Services

RIVIA provides three core services, designed to work together. Most clients begin with the managed scenting service and add signature scent development later. The EQA team works independently on all projects to maintain quality standards.

Signature Scent Development

A fragrance created specifically for your brand, using a defined process

Your signature scent is not chosen from a list of existing options. It is created specifically for your brand, based on a thorough understanding of what your brand represents. The process results in a formal document called the Olfactive Blueprint, which records all decisions and rationale.

Brand Research

Before we ask you any questions, we research your brand independently. We study your brand values, visual identity, positioning, target audience, and the experience you want your space to create. We arrive at Stage 2 already prepared.

Brand Profile Questions

We prepare a questionnaire with information about your brand already filled in, based on our research. Your team reviews this, makes corrections, and adds any details we may have missed. The form covers your brand personality, your goals for the space, any existing scent preferences, and any fragrance directions you wish to avoid.

Leadership Session, Selecting the Scent Direction

Different people respond to scents differently. In this session, your key decision makers explore possible scent directions using a visual and sensory approach. Your team decides how much the final choice reflects the brand identity and how much reflects the personal preferences of the leaders involved.

The Olfactive Blueprint

RIVIA combines everything from the first three stages into one formal document, the Olfactive Blueprint. This document defines your brand's scent identity: the fragrance notes, the scent family, the emotional effect intended, the recommended intensity level, and the reasoning behind every decision. This document belongs to you.

Scent Creation and Final Selection

Based on the Olfactive Blueprint, our perfumers develop between three and seven signature scent options for your evaluation. Once a direction is chosen, further refinements are made. The final scent is approved, formally documented, and deployed.

Managed Scenting Service

Complete scenting service, managed from start to finish

RIVIA manages the full scenting service for your space. This includes supplying, installing, and commissioning all equipment; providing all fragrance consumables on an ongoing basis; carrying out scheduled maintenance and technical support; monitoring performance; and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

How pricing works: Our pricing is based on the size of the space and covers everything. You pay a fixed monthly amount based on the total cubic footage of the areas to be scented. There are no separate costs for equipment, fragrance consumables, or standard maintenance. The amount you pay does not change.

What this means for your team: You have a single point of contact for all scenting matters. Your FM team does not need to manage separate suppliers for equipment, fragrance, and maintenance. RIVIA handles everything. All service requests are recorded, followed up, and resolved through one channel.

What is included:

  • Equipment supply and installation
  • All fragrance oil consumables
  • Scheduled service visits
  • Unscheduled call-out support
  • Performance and usage monitoring
  • Regulatory documentation and compliance
  • Independent experience quality audit visits (EQA team)

What happens when scenting is not managed

Poor scenting is usually caused by focusing only on equipment and fragrance products, without the discipline of a service management approach.

Without a managed scenting service, most commercial spaces experience one of three problems:

  1. No scent at all. The space smells of whatever is already present, cleaning products, food, foot traffic, or air conditioning air. The brand experience is not controlled.

  2. Uneven scenting. Some areas smell strong while others have no scent at all. Equipment is installed but not monitored. The service stops working when the fragrance runs out, and no one notices for days. Visitors experience an inconsistent environment that feels unintentional.

  3. Disagreement among decision makers. One person selects a fragrance they like and requests it at high intensity. Others in the organisation disagree. The situation becomes difficult to resolve and the project does not succeed.

All three of these problems can be solved. The solution requires the right processes, a clear measurement standard, and a genuine service commitment, with a team that is built to deliver consistently.

Experience - Quality Assurance (EQA)

Independent quality checking, separate from the service team

RIVIA's EQA team is structurally separate from the team that delivers the scenting service. This is a deliberate decision.

The EQA team visits your space on a regular schedule to check the scent experience independently. They assess whether the fragrance coverage and intensity match the agreed standard, record their observations, and escalate any issues that require action.

What the EQA team checks:

  1. Joint site visits with your FM team
  2. Scent intensity assessment against the agreed MPL level
  3. Coverage check across all scented areas
  4. Written record of findings and formal sign-off
  5. Complaint recording, tracking, and resolution
  6. Escalation to the service team when action is needed

Many scenting companies assess their own performance. RIVIA does not. We keep the team that delivers the service separate from the team that checks it. Every EQA visit produces a written report. Over time, these reports create a documented performance record, useful for internal reporting, contract reviews, and holding RIVIA accountable to agreed standards.

OdourNull

When the solution is not adding a scent, but removing a bad one

Some environments have persistent unpleasant odours that cannot be resolved by adding a fragrance. High traffic washrooms, transit corridors, food service areas, and waste management zones are common examples. Spraying a pleasant fragrance over an unpleasant odour does not work. It simply creates two overlapping smells, neither of which is acceptable.

OdourNull is RIVIA's proprietary malodour counteractant service. It works at a molecular level to neutralise the specific odour compounds present in a given environment, and replaces them with a clean, controlled fragrance.

Recreate

Every bad odour has a unique molecular composition. Before we can counteract it, we must first understand exactly what it consists of. We analyse the specific odour molecules present in your environment. This analysis is the foundation of everything that follows.

Analyse

With the odour fully profiled, we identify the exact counteractant formulation required. This is not a standard product taken from a shelf. It is formulated specifically for the odour molecules identified in your space.

Counteract

The counteractant is applied using one of three mechanisms: chemical combination (the counteractant bonds with odour molecules to form a neutral compound), physical combination (odour molecules are captured and neutralised), or physical interference (the brain's perception of the odour is interrupted at a neurological level).

Where OdourNull is used:

High traffic washrooms · Airport terminals and transit areas · Food service zones · Waste management and service areas · Any environment where fragrance masking has not resolved the odour problem.
